WHEREAS: Rural communities in Minnesota and throughout the United States are exceptional places to live, work, play, and volunteer; and
WHEREAS: The health and well-being of our citizens are of the utmost importance to our state; and
WHEREAS: Rural communities can face limited access to healthcare services, shortages of healthcare providers, transportation challenges, an aging population with higher rates of chronic conditions, and a greater proportion of uninsured and underinsured citizens; and
WHEREAS: Rural communities are resilient, resourceful, and innovative in meeting challenges with creativity and collaboration; and
WHEREAS: Rural Minnesota offers meaningful opportunities for dedicated health professionals to deliver high-quality, personalized care and essential health services; and
WHEREAS: People are working in partnership across all sectors--public and private--to build, support, and maintain a robust health care system and a vibrant environment to recruit and retain health care professionals to serve Minnesota's rural residents; and
WHEREAS: Meeting the health needs of Minnesota's rural residents requires continued commitment, innovation, and resourcefulness that reaches across and beyond geographic boundaries, demographics, and financial challenges;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TIM WALZ, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim Thursday, November 20, 2025, as:
RURAL HEALTH DAY
in the State of Minnesota.
