Grant Information:

Rural Primary Care Residency Training Grant Program
Intent to Apply Deadline: Wednesday, July 30th, 2025, 4:30 P.M. CT
Application Deadline: Friday, September 5, 2025, 4:30 P.M. CT
Eligible Applicants: Eligible applicants are programs, sponsors, and potential sponsors of rural primary care residency programs located in Minnesota. Program partners such as clinical training sites are eligible applicants for program sustainability funds. Eligible programs fulfill all the following criteria:

  • Train, or propose to train, medical residents in:
    o    A new rural residency training program,
    o    A new rural residency training track within an existing residency program, or 
    o    A community-based ambulatory care center that primarily serves the underserved and is proposing to add a rural residency training program or track.
  • Train, or propose to train, medical residents in the following primary care specialties:
    o    Family medicine,
    o    General internal medicine,
    o    General pediatrics,
    o    General surgery,
    o    Geriatrics, or
    o    Psychiatry.
  • Are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or present a credible plan to obtain accreditation.

Health Professionals Clinical Training Expansion Grant Program
Intent to Apply Deadline: n/a
Application Deadline: Monday, August 4, 2025, 4:30 P.M. CT
Eligible Applicants: Eligible applicants, which may be part of institutions of higher education, hospitals, or other entities located in Minnesota, are eligible to apply for this funding if the program:

      1.    Is located in Minnesota and trains, or proposes to train, students residing and working in Minnesota.

      2.    Plans to establish or expand clinical training for students in the following health professional programs:

             •    Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Program
             •    Dental Therapy Program or Advanced Dental Therapy Program
             •    Mental Health Professional Program
             •    Pharmacy Program
             •    Physician Assistant Program

All applicants must be able to demonstrate applicable membership and compliance with the corresponding accrediting bodies.

Mental Health Grants for Health Care Professionals FY2026

Eligible Applicants: 

  • Health Care Systems
  • Hospitals
  • Clinics
  • Nursing Facilities
  • Community Health Clinics
  • Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)
  • Rural Health Clinics
  • Consortium of Clinics or Other Health Care Entities
  • Health Professional Associations
  • Community Mental Health Clinics
  • Indian Health Services

Minnesota School-Based Health Center Grant
Intent to Apply Deadline: n/a
Application Deadline: Thursday, July 10, 2025
Eligible Applicants: 

  • A public school, school district, or Educational Service District (including charter schools, locally or federally operated Tribal schools, and alternative learning centers) serving students between kindergarten and 12th grade in Minnesota.
  • A community-based organization, including nonprofits, Tribal community clinic programs, which represent the community to be served by the SBHC.
  • A medical or mental health care organization intending to sponsor the SBHC*.
  • Current SBHC sponsoring organizations* 
  • Local Health Departments

    *Sponsoring organizations must meet the statue definition 145.903 Sub. 1
