Home Care Resources for Consumers

Minnesota has a variety of resources to assist individuals and families who need information about or help in obtaining to home care services. Here are some links that you may find helpful: 

Ombudsman for Long-Term Care
The Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care is a program of the Minnesota Board on Aging. Regional ombudsmen and volunteers work to enhance the quality of life and services for people receiving long-term services and supports. The program also advocates for reform in long-term care through changes in state law, federal law and administrative policy.

Child Protection Services
To report suspected child abuse or neglect, contact your county or tribal social services agency or the police. If it is an emergency, call the police at 911.

Adult Protection Services
Minnesota strives to ensure safe environments and services for vulnerable adults and encourages reporting of suspected maltreatment. The Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC) provides a toll-free number (844-880-1574) which the general public and mandated reporters can call to report suspected maltreatment of vulnerable adults.

Senior LinkAge Line
The Senior LinkAge Line® is the Minnesota Board on Aging's free statewide information and assistance service. The Senior LinkAge Line® service is provided by six area agencies on aging that cover all 87 counties of Minnesota and helps connect you to local services.

Provides assistance to individuals seeking information and help from Minnesota’s helping agencies.

Minnesota Department of Human Services
The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) helps provide essential services to Minnesota’s most vulnerable residents. Working with many others, including counties, tribes and nonprofits, DHS helps ensure that Minnesota seniors, people with disabilities, children and others meet their basic needs and have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

From this site, you can access licensing information on nearly 600 licenses administered by over 45 state agencies in Minnesota.
