For Local Public Health and Health Care Providers: Refugee Health

This page contains essential resources and relevant links for health care providers and local public health staff, Minnesota Refugee Health Program’s key partners involved in refugee health services. Health care providers are responsible for completing the Refugee Health Assessment and helping coordinate expedited access or referrals to primary care and specialty care, as needed. Local public health staff collaborate with the resettlement agencies, private sponsors, community partners, and clinics to coordinate the Refugee Health Assessment, provide training and support to clinics regarding Refugee Health Assessments, verify completion of the Refugee Health Assessment, and notify the Minnesota Refugee Health Program of results.

  • Refugee Health Care Provider Resources

  • Refugee Health Assessment Coordination
Information about coordinating the Refugee Health Assessment including an overview of the assessment and its importance, procedures for coordinating routine assessments and care for medical cases, and information about health insurance and provider reimbursement, transportation, and considerations for serving eligible populations who are not primary refugees.
  • Trainings and Events
Live and on-demand training opportunities and information about the Minnesota Immigrant and Refugee Health Network (MIRHN) and the Minnesota Refugee Health Forum.
  • Nonrefugee Migrants and Newcomers Provider Resources
Clinical guidance and general health resources for health care providers who serve newcomers who are ineligible for state or federal benefits, including those who may be undocumented or seeking asylum.
