Trainings and Events: Refugee Health

Minnesota Immigrant and Refugee Health Network

The Minnesota Immigrant and Refugee Health Network (MIRHN), previously called the Metro Immigrant and Refugee Health Network, brings together Minnesota health professionals, social service workers, students, community members, and others interested in refugee and immigrant health issues. At monthly meetings, presentations by various individuals working in the field serve as a catalyst for group dialogue and networking.

The network is coordinated by a staff member of the MDH Refugee Health Program and several partners.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month from 9:30-11 a.m. CT. The group does not meet in July, August, or December 2025. To receive notice of upcoming meetings and biweekly updates sharing community events, job postings, grant opportunities, and other relevant announcements, Subscribe to Minnesota Immigrant and Refugee Health Announcements email list. Questions may be directed to refugeehealth@state.mn.us.

Refugee Health Screening Microlearning Series

This series of short videos helps providers, clinical teams, and public health professionals better understand best practices for Refugee Health Assessments. Each 2-3 minute video focuses on an aspect of the Refugee Health Assessment (e.g., mental health and emotional wellbeing, viral hepatitis, lead, etc.). Access the videos on YouTube: Refugee Health Microlearning Series.

Minnesota Center of Excellence in Newcomer Health Trainings

The Minnesota Department of Health Refugee Health Program is the lead member of the Minnesota Center of Excellence in Newcomer Health (MN COE).
