Build Your Own Hand Washing Tool Kit

The supplies and materials you need to build a toolkit for teaching the MDH hand washing curriculum.

Experiment supplies:

Not all supplies are necessary. Check the curriculum you are using for the experiments you plan to do and pack only those materials.

  • Ultraviolet light
     
    • Extension cord
  • Glowing potion and/or powder
     
  • Soap
  • Paper towels
  • Singing/dancing animal that lasts 20 seconds (or other way to measure 20 seconds of time)
     
  • Fake finger germs (5)
  • Rubber chicken
     
  • Telephone
  • Apple or other fruit
  • Sandwich
  • Sterile petri dishes (with agar)
  • Sterile cotton swabs or Q-tips
  • Distilled water
  • Masking tape
  • Permanent markers
  • Sandwich bags
  • Preservative free bread (available at most bakeries)
  • Brown grocery bag
  • Paper lunch bags
  • Balloons
  • 3-600ml beakers
  • 2-250ml flasks
  • Labels
  • Sugar
  • Packaged dry yeast
  • Instant read thermometer
  • Spoon
  • 3 Containers for water (buckets) or glass jars with lids
  • Cutting board
  • Play-doh (not white or yellow)
  • Knife
  • Dark color paper or cloth towel
