Minnesota Perinatal Quality Collaborative (MNPQC)

Established in 2018 (previously known as the Minnesota Perinatal Organization), the Minnesota Perinatal Quality Collaborative (MNPQC) is at the forefront of uniting perinatal healthcare disciplines. As a statewide network, MNPQC works with over 80 organizations and over 130 individuals to address Minnesota’s most pressing perinatal health challenges.  

Purpose & Vision

The MNPQC mission is to support our healthcare and community partners in ensuring that safe, respectful, and high-quality perinatal care is accessible to all Minnesota families. The MNPQC addresses this through administering quality improvement (QI) programs, elevating family/patient voices, and fostering a collaborative network to solve problems.

Current Quality Improvement Initiatives and Committees

• Linking Identification & Navigation for Perinatal Mental Health & Substance Use Care (LINK) launched in October 2024, building on the success and lessons learned from a previous substance use disorder quality improvement initiative. It strengthens identification and referral processes, expands access to mental health and substance use treatment, and integrates evidence-based AIM patient safety bundles. LINK also brings hospital teams together to streamline and standardize care. The initiative will continue through 2026, with seven hospitals across Minnesota participating.
• Obstetrical Hemorrhage Community of Learning seeks to increase the proportion of Minnesota birthing facilities with the training, standardized protocols, and resources needed to effectively identify, prevent, and manage obstetric hemorrhage, particularly in communities most affected by maternal health disparities. Through collaborative learning, the program will improve continuity in clinical practices and protocols and promote equitable care delivery.
• Program Advisory Committee consists of representatives from healthcare organizations, professional leadership, and community stakeholders. Together they review current data, trends, and research on best practices to inform quality improvement initiatives. One of their key functions is the promotion and support of quality improvement programs aimed at reducing inequities. The Program Advisory Committee serves as a bi-directional communication source between the MNPQC and organizations around the state.
