Selection criteria

The Commissioner’s Award for Distinguished Service in Community Health Services was created in 1992 to acknowledge long-term contributions, involvement, achievement, and commitment to community health services. The recipients of this award have demonstrated this kind of long-term commitment and have contributed to advancement within the public health field.

2. Advocacy for public health
3. Distinguished service to community health services
4. Evidence of statewide effect on public health policy
5. Contributions to advancement in the field of public health

Persons eligible for this award include current State Community Health Services Advisory Committee (SCHSAC) members and alternates, local public health staff, local advisory committee members, elected officials, past local, state health staff, and volunteers.
