March 2026 grantee spotlight: Lacey Papasodora
This month’s spotlight highlights Lacey Papasodora, a health educator and home visitor for Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center (MIWRC). MIWRC is a nonprofit organization in Minneapolis and was founded in 1984 to support Native American women and their families through culturally grounded services. MIWRC delivers Family Spirit, an evidenced-based home visiting program developed for and with Indigenous communities. Lacey has been a home visitor for three years and plays an integral role in the success of this growing program.

Lacey Papasodora
Papasodora is valued by the families she supports and coworkers and her peers. She is willing to connect with other home visitors to network resources or just share ideas. She is a true advocate and promoter of the importance of home visitors and the support they are for families.
“The most rewarding part of my work is being a safe and supportive space for the moms in my program,” said Papasodora “Watching them grow as parents as they engage in lessons and commit to learning how to strengthen their parenting skills, all while overcoming challenges and achieving their goals. I'm so proud of each and every one of them. It means so much to me to be welcomed into their homes. I’m grateful to witness their journey and proud to be part of their children’s lives as they grow and thrive.”

Lacey’s supervisor, Maria Smith, shared: “Lacey demonstrates empathy and care for the families she works with, striving to build trusting and nurturing relationships. She actively listens to their needs and goes above and beyond to find resources, whether they are personal, cultural, or educational, to support them. Her passion for her work is evident in her daily commitment to helping families succeed. For example, she has worked closely with a young mom, witnessing the growth and development of both the mom and her baby, which highlights her dedication to making a meaningful impact. Lacey views her work as more than just a job; it is her passion. She also prioritizes her professional growth and that of the families she works with, while ensuring enrollment remains full, and families stay engaged.”
