Fees

State fees for well construction notifications, well sealing notifications, variance requests, permits, licenses, drilling machine and hoist registrations, and well disclosures are collected by the Minnesota Department of Health Well Management Section. The fee schedule is authorized under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 103I.

Fee payment submittal

Fee payments to the Minnesota Department of Health, Well Management Section, go to a dedicated fax number or P.O. Box Number. Made payable to: Minnesota Department of Health.

Credit card payments processed by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Well Management Section will automatically include a 2.15% service fee charged and collected by US Bank. This fee will show as a separate transaction in your bank or credit card statement and is nonrefundable.

Effective July 1, 2025, the 2025 Legislature authorized fee changes in Minnesota Statutes, 103I. The changes are outlined below.

Permits and variance requests will not be reviewed and notifications and licenses will not be valid until sufficient funds have been submitted to MDH. The county recorder will not accept submittal of well disclosure certificates without the appropriate fee.

Well fees in jurisdictions of delegated well programs are established by the delegated program. Contractors should check with the delegated program for fee amounts and any other administrative requirements. Delegated Well Programs in Minnesota.
