Rule Amendments to Radiation Safety Rules

Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4731, Revisor ID Number R - 4793

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is considering amendments to Minnesota Rules, chapter 4731 (Radiation Safety) that incorporate requirements to maintain compatibility with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations as required by our agreement.

Comments on the proposed rules will be accepted from November 18, 2024, to 4:30 p.m. on December 19, 2024, through the Office of Administrative Hearings eComments site. A Dual Notice of Intent to Adopt Rules is now published in the Minnesota State Register (PDF) (p. 529)  on November 18, 2024.

MDH published a Request for Comments in the Minnesota State Register for the Radiation Safety Rules Amendments on June 5, 2023. The Request for Comments is the first step in the rulemaking process and an opportunity to obtain input from interested parties.

This comment period opened on June 5, 2023, and closed on November 18, 2024, when the Notice of Intent to Adopt Rules was published. No comments related to radiation safety amendments were received during the Request for Comments period.
