Alcohol Health Information

Alcohol Use Disorder - Alcohol addiction is a disease, and treatment and recovery are possible. Excessive drinking increases a person’s risk for alcohol use disorder. Alcohol use disorder, or AUD, is a medical disease often showing compulsive alcohol use, loss of control over alcohol intake, and a negative emotional state when not using alcohol.

Alcohol and Your Health - Alcohol use impacts everyone whether you, or someone else, uses alcohol. All Minnesotans can and should contribute to creating a safer culture regarding alcohol.

Alcohol and Cancer - Research has shown that drinking alcohol can increase the risk of the cancer.

Defining a Drink - It’s important to know and understand how much alcohol you are drinking in order to make the best decisions for your health.

Driving While Impaired - Alcohol and drugs affect the brain and body, which can affect the safety of a person’s driving. Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs can affect a person’s decision-making, behaviors, personal safety, and the safety of others.
