CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH SPECIAL HEALTH NEEDS
Local Public Health Conference
Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6, 2025 | River’s Edge Convention Center | St. Cloud
The Children and Youth with Special Health Needs (CYSHN) section at MDH hosts an annual conference for local public health staff who gather information and provide support to families of children and youth with special health needs and disabilities. Local public health staff who attend this conference connect, share knowledge, and explore strategies to support families.
This year’s theme, Children, Families, and Caregivers: a Focus on Mental Health, highlights the vital role public health plays in supporting mental well-being.
Registration
MDH covers the lodging of up to three local public health staff from each county in Minnesota. Even if you are not planning on staying the night, please register below so that we have an accurate meal count and so that we can provide nametags to attendees. Meals are also provided to all registered attendees.
Registration has closed. Contact health.cyshn@state.mn.us with any changes or accommodations that were not included in your registration form submission.
Share your stories!
CYSHN is also collecting stories from local public health staff to feature during the conference. Help showcase the incredible work being done across Minnesota by sharing your experiences.
As a result of the meeting, participants will:
- Build community through shared learning and experiences.
- Create and utilize connections across systems and services serving CYSHN in Minnesota.
- Apply best practices for providing support and services to families of children with special health needs identified through MDH CYSHN programs.
- Pursue opportunities to innovate together, driven by quality improvement of our shared system.
- Implement strategies to address mental health challenges faced by CYSHN, their families, and the professionals who support them.
Attendees are eligible for up to 8 contact hours of continuing education by participating in this conference. After completing an evaluation of the conference, attendees will receive a fillable certificate as documentation of their participation. Attendees should only claim the hours they attended on the certificate.
